30 Posts in 30 Days....DONE!

I must say I have really enjoyed the experience. Since I have only been in the blogging world since January, this is my first time to participate in NaBloPoMo. Although some posts were easy to make, there were a few fillers in there. But none the less, I did it. 30 posts in 30 days! Glad you joined me in this journey!

Rebekah Day

I found this adorable piece of paper in Rebekah's room the other day. Can you make it all out?

Here is what Rachel wrote:
Dear Bekah, you are just a cutey pey. I love you verry much. I desid that today shode be Rebekah Day! Your sister, Rachel.

Translation:
Dear Bekah, you are just a cutie pie! I love you very much. I decided that today should be Rebekah Day! Your sister, Rachel.

Isn't that just the most precious thing you have ever read? Wish they got along that well all the time. I'm not really sure what the picture is supposed to be, but the words just melted my heart.

Edited: Jon Paul explained the drawing to me. He thinks the girl is Rachel, she is blindfolded and has a stick in her hand. The big head is a pinata of Rebekah's head. The little lines are the candy coming out of the pinata. So, it's Rebekah Day and Rachel gets to "beat" her sister's head until the candy falls out. Interesting theory...

Will You Write a Mother Letter?

Someone I know has come up with a wonderful way to bless his wife this Christmas. He has come up with The Mother Letter Project. Heard about it yet? It's getting a lot of traffic these days. You can read the birth of the idea here. What is a Mother Letter you ask?

Well, direct from the website: It is a letter from you, to another mother. You may share a story—no matter how raw or difficult. You may share your concerns or worries—no matter how foolish they may seem. You may share your wisdom—no matter how you came by it. Share your mother story; your Mother Letter. The only request? Start the letter “Dear Mother” and sign it (electronically, of course). I will compile all of the letters in a Christmas book for my wife. If you share a letter before Christmas, and you leave me some information by which to contact you, I'll send you your own compilation of the Mother Letters.

You may submit your Mother Letter by clicking this link or email it directly to motherletter@gmail.com.

So, will you join me in writing a Mother Letter? What a wonderful gift this husband is giving his wife and much more so, a wonderful gift he is indirectly giving to all of us. I can't wait to read more...

Bookworm Award

I saw this in an old high school friend's blog. It sounded fun so I thought I would give it a try. Pass it on if you want!

Here are the instructions:
1. Open the closest book to you, not your favorite or most intellectual book, but the book closest to you at the moment.
2. Turn to page 56.
3. Write out the 5th sentence, as well as two to five sentences following that...

Well, I'm sitting at my desk and the closest book to me is Breaking Dawn by Stephenie Meyer. Go figure!!! Here is what is on page 56:

It wasn't nearly as easy to dance with Charlie. He was no better at it than I was, so we moved safely from side to side in a tiny square formation. Edward and Esme spun around us like Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers.

"I'm going to miss you at home, Bella. I'm already lonely."

I spoke through a tight throat, trying to make a joke of it.

Good part, but no major spoiler in case you haven't read it yet. Good book. VERY good book. Check all four of them in the series out if you haven't already!

I give this award to anyone who is reading this right now! I especially want to tag Karen at PediaScribe, mainly because I am curious as to what book is closest to her at this moment. I have a feeling, but I'll have to wait and see!

Have fun and I can't wait to see what other fun books show up! Does anyone know why page 56? Just wondering...

Pray For My Community

"Arise, cry out in the night, as the watches of the night begin; pour out your heart like water in the presence of the Lord. Lift up your hands to him for the lives of your children, who faint from hunger at the head of every street."
Lamentations 2:19

Will you join me and the Lonoke County Community for a most historical prayer event? Fathers, mothers, grandparents, friends and teachers will join together for an evening of prayer for all of Lonoke County.

We will be praying for the spirit of death to be removed from our community. We have had 18 deaths, children age 19 and down, die in Lonoke County in the past three months. It is time we stand as a community and pray together!

When? The actual prayer time is tonight from 7:00-8:00 p.m. But any prayers, anytime would be appreciated!

Another Fun Meme

Got this from my friend, Sarah. These are fun to do and again, make great blog fodder. Hope you enjoy getting to know me even more! Feel free to use it too!

Hi my name is
: Jennifer Shelaine Jones.

Never in my life have I been to: Alaska.

The one person who can drive me nuts is: no one particular that I can think of right now...

When I'm nervous I: get really quiet, bite my nails.

The last song I listened to was: one of the girl's choir songs from church.

My hair is: brown, way too short and has a few silver lines in it!

When I was 5: I was in kindergarten and reading books.

Last Christmas: was our last Christmas in our first home.

I should be: working...

When I look right: I see my computer printer, the breakfast area and on out onto our deck.

I'm looking forward to: Seeing Twilight this coming Thursday night!!!

If I were a character on Grey's Anatomy: Who knows, I don't watch the show!

By this time next year: I'll be a year older!!!

My current annoyance is: All the things in our nice new house that haven't been fixed yet. I want to decorate for Christmas and I just can't see past these things!

I have a hard time understanding: how people can think abortion is okay.

There's this girl I know who: is a long lost best friend who I hadn't talked to in three years and we just reconnected through Facebook! Love ya Ruth!!

If I won an award, the first person I would tell would be: My family and you guys, my bloggy friends!

I want to buy: a Roomba.

If you visited the place I'm from: you would find there are a lot of beautiful places in Arkansas...most people who aren't from here don't know that!

I'd rather hold a cockroach than: a snake.

The most recent thing I've bought myself was: a ticket to see Twilight.

Most recent thing someone else bought me was: a game for my husband's iPhone!

In the mornings: I'm tired and a little grumpy...I don't do mornings!

Last night: we went to see the African Children's Choir perform at our church.

If I were an animal I would be: a mother bear...get to eat all I want and sleep all winter!

Tomorrow I am: not sure what I will be doing...take Rachel to school, maybe a little work, play some with Rebekah, normal daily stuff.

Tonight I am: going to watch Dancing With The Stars and some other shows on my TiVo.

We've Been Shot!

This past Thursday the girls and I all went to our regular doctors office to receive our annual flu shots. I was kind of hoping that this year we could get the flu mist, but no such luck for us. With Rachel's asthma and Rebekah's two wheezing episodes, their pediatrician did not recommend for them to take the mist. I didn't think it would be quite fair for me to get the mist and them to get shot, so it was shots for all of us!

I went first to show how easy it is and how it doesn't hurt (that much!). Plus, going first keeps my mind off of it. I don't have a good history with shots...I tend to pass out! Wouldn't that be a great picture for my girls? Get shot then fall over unconscious! Anyway, by going first I don't have time to think about it, my mind is completely focused on them.

Rebekah went next. Last year, she didn't cry at all, not before her shot and not after the shot. I don't think she would have cried this year if Rachel wasn't already totally losing it. But none the less, Rebekah sat on my lap, didn't fight it and cried big tears when it was all over.

Next was Rachel. Rachel, the drama queen. She said she was going to be brave and take the shot and not cry at all. Ummm....no, that didn't happen! She was trying to get her words in while screaming, "I'm not ready! I have to tell you something! I have to tell you something!!!!" I had already told her that I could guarantee that her shot would hurt REALLY bad if she fought it. But there was no reasoning with her now. I had to hold her on my lap, my mom held her arms, Nana held her legs and the nurse gave the shot. Rachel screamed. She said it was, "the worse thing ever!" Like I said, drama! She's better now.

Rebekah funny...when we were getting into the van, leaving the doctor, she kept saying something hurt. I said, "Does your boo boo hurt?" She said, "No, my hole hurts." Later that afternoon she said, "Mommy, my hole burns." Then she called her Daddy at work and told him, "Daddy, I got a hole in my leg." And now, she just brought me her baby doll and said, "She's crying. Her hole burns. She needs a bandage!" And when Daddy came home, he was talking to her about her "hole" and she said, "Stop! You're making me mean!"

The girls were rewarded with a trip to Build-a-Bear to pick out a new outfit or something for their bear/bunnies. Rachel picked out some High School Musical jammies and shirt. Rebekah picked out a sleeping bag with pillow and a pink gown. We ate lunch at Chick-fil-a and then went to TCBY for some yummy ice cream!

New House Tour Part 13

Last, but not least, the back of the house and backyard. We chose our lot because of its size. We love how much yard we have, especially the backyard. So, for our last tour...let's go out back!

Here is a shot from the steps of our deck. You can see the door leading into the house there on the right. The window straight ahead is in the family room.

Standing on one end of the deck looking across. You can see our new bargain deck furniture we got in the seasons end clearance sale at Home Depot! The two windows there just past the deck are the two windows in the master bedroom.

No, standing on the opposite corner, looking across. The two windows there on that corner are in the breakfast area. The brick wall straight ahead is the end of Nana's bathroom.

And here you have a shot of the entire back of the house. You can see the whole deck now. It makes a nice garage for the girl's jeep! You can kind of see just how large our backyard is in this picture. I have a few more to come in this post.

Another view of the back of the house. Here you can see the two windows in Nana's bedroom.

Here is the larger side of the backyard. This side comes up on the master bedroom side of the house. That little window there on the side of the house, that is the window in the master bathroom. We will be getting a new trampoline this spring and it will probably go in this part of the backyard.

This is the smaller part of the backyard. This is on the other three bedroom side of the house. The double gate is there, close to the extra parking pad. The two windows on this side are the ones in Rebekah's bedroom. I think next spring Nana and the girls may plant a garden over here.

Now, to see just how vast the backyard is. I am standing in the corner on the garage side of the house, looking straight down to the other end of the backyard. See how big it is? So wonderful! It's level and not full of trees and tree stumps like our old backyard!

How could I leave the backyard without showing off our playset one more time. I have posted about it before, but here it is again! The girls love it and I'm happy we were able to get this for them.

Well, there you have it! Almost the entire house! The only room that wasn't featured on the tour was the playroom, AKA the "leak room!" As soon as everything gets fixed/repaired, I promise I will post pictures. Sometime we hope to even get formal dining room furniture too! So, you'll just have to keep coming back! Thanks for being a part of the tour, I have enjoyed playing tour guide!

New House Tour Part 12

Today let's take a look at the garage and some outside shots of the house. We'll start the tour going out into the garage from the house. Those two doors across the way is to our closet. It's full and we're in need of some serious garage organization system. Hopefully this will come soon. A lot of stuff that is in here can be hung up or put on a shelf.

We have most of the boxes unpack and we've been able to park two cars in here most of the time. What we need now is some serious garage organization systems. Here is a view back towards the door that takes you into the house.

A look into the garage from the driveway. Nana's green bug is missing from the picture. It stays inside with the van.

In this photo you get a little better picture of the closet. This closet has one of the large arch top windows in it. We installed blinds on the window and keep them closed all the time. The original plans didn't have a closet here, we added it to give us more storage space. There are shelves on either side of the window. I have my cropping tables and chairs stored in here. It's a great space for them!

And now a view of the garage with the door closed. I love the garage door. There isn't a door in our neighborhood just like it. There are several similar ones, but not one just like it! That window there by the trash cans is Rachel's bedroom window.

Moving back just a bit and you can see the side of the house. Those two windows there on the side are Rebekah's bedroom windows.

Another view of the side of the house. You can see the extra parking pads we have there. This is where Jon Paul parks and is also a great place for us to back into out of the garage so we can pull straight out of the driveway. At the end of the parking pad, there is a double gate that leads to our backyard.

Ahhh, the beautiful front door. The door we waited and waited for. Isn't it just beautiful? I love it!

And now, here is our home. An outside view of the whole house. It's not perfect, you can see that the EIFS is torn off the window on the right. This is the leak area. It's hopefully going to be all repaired soon. I'll have to post a new photo once everything is the way it should be!

Tomorrow we'll take a look around the backyard and the back of the house. So, stick with me for one more day. I'll see you soon!

New House Tour Part 11

Welcome back! It's been nice seeing you everyday. Today we're going down a short hallway that leads to/from the garage. This hallway is home to another favorite of mine...the cubbies!! They are so nice. Also off this hallway is my laundry room. So, let's jump in and get started.

Here's a view looking down the short hallway. You can't see them in the photo, but there on the right side, just past the picture is where the cubbies are. And the doorway there on the right leads to the laundry room. Straight ahead, that door takes you to the garage. You can see where our refrigerator magnets ended up...on the garage door. I kind of like them there. It also makes for a nice little play area.

And here are the cubbies. My sister, Cynthia, and I found the hooks at Hobby Lobby. They have worked great. Rachel has the cubbie on the left and Rebekah's is on the right. They hang their backpacks on the outside hook and their coats on the back hook. We keep all of our church stuff there on the top shelf, which includes all their Awana's stuff. The basket is a catch all. At the time of this photo it had their Halloween stuff in it. The pictures that are sitting in Rachel's cubbie are ones to be hung up in the playroom...once it gets returned back to normal.

And now, take a look at my green laundry room! I painted it the same green that was in Rebekah's room. It looks more green in here since there aren't any windows in here. We recently purchased the second, small refrigerator. I'm so happy to have it! It gives me more freezer space that I've been wanting and a dedicated space to keep all of our special drinks. Now I will have more room in our nice refrigerator for food and leftovers!! But see those things on the right? Let's take another look...

Yep, here they are again. THESE ARE MY FAVORITE THINGS! Worth every single penny. Wish I had owned them forever!! So thankful that I have them now!!!

Just in case you want another look, here ya go. And you won't believe how quiet they are! I have to really look to see if they are running!! Any they sing to you when they are done. Talk about making laundry enjoyable!

Standing beside the refrigerator, you can the door to the laundry room. See that white cabinet by the door? That is Jon Paul's wiring/networking/don't know what else box. He had this installed by special request and has worked well. Don't ask me what it is all about...it's his baby.

And we've made it full circle. You can see out the door and the garage door again. I must say, I really love my laundry room. I intentionally wanted to make it pleasant and enjoyable. I feel I have achieved my goal!

We're almost done! I think we'll be done with the tour in two days. So, tomorrow and the next day and we'll be done! Thanks again for touring. See you tomorrow!

New House Tour Part 10

Today I would like to show you my pantry. I've never had a pantry before and I must say, I love it. First thing that I love, is my pantry door. I love the glass panel and I love how it sets the room off. It really is a nice touch. Here is a shot of the etching on the door.

Now, a shot of the entire door. I also love how the pantry is in the corner. It gives us quite a bit of room.

And now, the inside. We have four shelves that make an "L" shape. In that bottom part of the "L", the part on the left, they are extra deep.

If you go into the pantry just a bit and look to the left, you can see my most favorite part. There are my custom can shelves!! LOVE, lOvE, LoVe, love them!!!!

Here is a closer, straight photo of the can shelves. I told the guy what I wanted, which was: narrow shelves, just large enough to hold my largest cans, and have some sort of a lip on them to hold them on the shelf. We took this small space of a wall that really seemed useless and put something very useful there!! Did I tell you that I LOVE these???

Again, thank you for coming along for the tour. Just a few more stops to make and we'll be all done! See you tomorrow.

New House Tour Part 9

Welcome to Rebekah's room. Her room is the most bright and colorful. I wanted her room to be pink and green. The green we ended up with looks more yellow in her room. I think it has a lot to do with all the natural light that comes in her two windows. She likes it though and once we got her quilt on her bed, it really looked great. See the fan? I fell in love with these when I first saw them. We put the same fan/light in both of the girls bedrooms. What we didn't know when we installed these was how much light they put out. Or, better yet, how much light they did NOT put out. The lights take 40W bulbs and there are only three of them. Their rooms would have been really dim. So, at the last minute we opted to put four can lights in each of their rooms. Boy, what a difference that made! I love that we did it. It's nice and bright to play in and we can turn off the cans for a softer light. This the view as you come in through her bedroom door.

Here is a shot of her bed. We purchased this bed after we moved into the new house. She loves her new BIG big girl bed. We chose to get a full size bed for her. It will make a nice bed for guests, should we need it. We found the metal flower on the wall at Hobby Lobby. It has all of the same colors in it as is in her quilt. I'm still shopping for something to go on the wall to the right of her bed. It needs to be something large, or several small prints that match. I'll know it when I see it!

Here is a shot standing in front of her closet door. You can see her second window and her kitchen and art easel. The kitchen used to be Rachel's, but now Rebekah has it. Both girls still play with it a lot. That is the bathroom door there on the left.

And now a shot standing in corner opposite the door. You can see her bedroom and bathroom door. You can see also that she has two of her walls painted pink and the other two painted green (or yellow!).

And last, here a view from her bedroom and into the bathroom. You can see on into Rachel's bedroom.

Rebekah's closet is smaller than Rachel's. We didn't have the room for the shelves, like in Rachel's closet. For now, we have two rods that go all the way across. They put them in to where we can take out the lower one once her clothes get longer. And, I have two long shelves that go all the way across the length of her closet.

And here is one more view of her closet. You can see how it goes back. We painted the inside of her closet the same green (or yellow!).

Wow! We're almost through with the whole house! Just a few more rooms left to show and we'll be done. I'm so glad you've come along for the tours. I've enjoyed showing it all off. See you tomorrow!
